Konnichiwa!!!
Hey everyone! Whats happening? Sounds like the world is going way down way fast... We will keep praying for you over here and hope all is well. Technically, were in the future (15 hrs ahead) so dont worry, the Sun has risen over here, hahaha!
Anyways, enough shenanigans...
This week was pretty good. We saw some good things and not so good things, but its part of the missionary life. Were working with this awesome less-active member (the one Amorim Sensei baptized, small world huh?) and this was the fourth time we met with him. The first time, he wouldnt even say amen, but on friday, he offered to say the opening prayer!! Its a small thing, but for him, its a huge step. He has really bad depression, but since weve been meeting hes getting off the meds!! Its truly a miracle! Were doing family home evening with him tonight, and net week were going to a shrine in Miyajima (if you look at Hiroshima tourist pictures, its the shrine in the water - its a perennial tide, so we should be able to walk out there and take some pictures). Then we also talked to another `yasumin kaiin` (lit. resting member, haha) who is the first one`s old friend and hes coming to Church, so hopefully get them on the same boat, if you catch my drift.
We had exchanges this past week, and I went with one of the Zone leaders since my companion is District leader (Hes pretty overwhelmed, its his first transfer as trainer, second as senior, and first as district leader, and our district is booming!). It was fun, but I missed working on our area. Hatsukaichi is freaking awesome!! Its so great, the members will do anything, and this wednesday our Eikawa (English conversation class) is joining the primary for a Halloween party at the Church, its going to be pretty sweet.
Right now were working with a ton of different Potential Inv. (PIs), investigators, and less-actives (LAs) so were barely doing any streeting or housing. Its not really unusual, but we like working with names better than stats, but we still found some awesome people through regular methods, so were pretty tired...
Last week we taught at the Elementary school again and got soaked. It seems that whenever we go up hills, we either get soaked from rain, sweat, or both. Its been tough, but definitely worth it. Heavenly Father is blessings us so much - much more than I think we should, but thats the way it goes :) - and the work is definitely moving forward. Remember Ueda? Well, last week the member that came with us didnt help things much, but on saturday we met with him again, and this time we met his wife! Really unexpected! She was a little hesitant at first, but she came out and sat with us and we had a good discussion on revelation and prayer, and how the Book of Mormon can help us. It was good, but were preparing a Spiritual punch in the face for next week!
Hotta, and Ito-san are still doing good, but Ito-san`s work makes it really hard for him to come to Church. Were still working with him a lot, and praying a ton, but his baptism is gonna have to be postponed if he doesnt start coming. We taught Hotta this week too and we never realized that she wasnt taught the plan of salvation - friggin` missionaries right?! Anyways so were having to teach her all over but she seems way more into it and progressing now that she has an end goal to the Celestial Kingdom! Its awesome!
Well, this week were meeting with a bunch of people and we will be pretty busy. We met a guy on saturday just walking down this busy road who had lost all hope. Having no job in Japan is a lot more than just being unemployed. It means everything to them. So hes grabbing at straws, and he just gave us his address and phone number so we could keep teaching him! It was great to be able to be there as tools in Heavenly Fathers hands, it was pretty awesome.
All right I gotta go but take care everyone, and well keep praying for you. I love you all, and miss you - I hope everything is ok. Thanks for the letters and emails, I really do appreciate them!! But yeah well keep preaching the good word and try not to hit my head on any more door jambs (the count is still at only 4, so I think Im doing good... I hope!)

Oi todo mundo! O que estah acontecendo? Parece que o mundo estah indo pra baixo rapido... Vamos continuar a orar por voces ai e esperamos que tudo esteja bem. Tecnicamente, estamos no futuro (15 hrs pra frente) entao nao se preocupe, o Sol nasceu aqui, hahaha!
De qualquer jeito, basta de shenaningans...
Essa semana foi bom. Vemos umas coisas boas e coisas nao muito boas, mas eh a parte da vida missionaria.
Estamos trabalhando com esse membro bacana que nao eh muito ativo (aquele que o Amorim Sensei batizou, mundo pequeno neh?) e essa foi a quarta vez que encontramos com ele. A primeira vez, ele nem falava Amen, mas na sexta-feira, ele ofereceu a primeira oracao!! Eh uma coisa pequena, mas pra ele, eh um paco enorme. Ele tem depressao bem ruim, mas desda gente comecar a encontrar com ele, ele estah parando de tomar remedio!! Eh verdadeiramente um milagre! Estamos fazendo reuniao de familia com ele hoje a noite, e semana que vem estamos indo pra um santuario e, Miyajima (se voces olharem a fotos turisticas de Hiroshima, eh um santuario na agua- eh uma mare permanente, entao podemos ir pra lah e tirar umas fotos). Ai tambem falamos com um outro "yasumin kaiin" (lit. membro descancando, haha) que eh o amigo do primeiro e ele estah indo pra Igreja, entao esperamos de ter eles no mesmo barco, se voce entende minha onda.
Tivemos trocas essa semana passada, e eu fui com com um dos Lideres de Zona desde que o meu companheiro eh Lidere do Distrito (ele eh bem ocupado, eh a primeira transferencia dele como treinador, segundo como senhor, e primeiro como lider de distrito, e o nosso distrito essa avancando muito!). Foi divertido, mas eu senti saudades de trabalhar na minha area. Hatsukaichi eh muito bacana!! Eh tao otimo, os membros fazem qualquer coisa, e essa quarta-feira o nosso Eikawa (classe de conversacao em Ingles) eh juntando com a Primaria pra uma festa de Dias da Bruxas na Igreja, vai ser muito legal.
Agora estamos trabalhando com um monte de Investigadores Potenciais (PIs), investigadores, e menos-ativos (LAs) entao estamos quase nao estamos nas ruas ou em casa. Eh realmente nao raro, mas gostamos de trabalhar com nomes melhor do que estatisticas, mas ainda achamos umas pessoas bacanas por metodos regulares, entao estamos bem cansados...
Semana passada ensinamos na Escola Elementar de volta e ficamos molhados. Parece que cada vez que subimos o morro, ficamos molhados de suor, chuva, ou os dois. Tem sido dificil, mas definitivamente valhe a pena. O Pai Celestial estah nos abencoando tanto- muito mais do que eu penso que deveremos, mas eh assim que vai :) - e o trabalho estah definitivamente indo pra frente.
Lembra da Ueda? Bem, semana passada o membro que veio conosco nao ajudou as coisas muito, mas no sabado encontramos com ele de volta, e essa vez encontramos a esposa dele! Realmente nao estavamos esperando por isso! Ela estava meio hesitante primeiro, mas ela se abriu e veio sentar com a gente e tivemos uma discussao boa com relacao a revelacao e oracao, e como o Livro de Mormon pode ajudar a gente. Foi bom, mas estamos preparando um soco Espiritual na cara pra semana que vem!
Hotta, e Ito-san ainda estao bem, mas o trabalho do Ito-san faz que seja dificil pra ele vir pra Igreja. Ainda estamos trabalhando com ele bastante, e orando um monte, mas o batismo dele vai ter que esperar se ele nao comecar a ir.
Ensinamos a Hotta essa semana tambem e nunca percebemos que ela nunca foi ensinada o plano de salvacao- que missionarios certo?! De qualquer jeito entao estamos ter que ensinar ela tudo outra vez mas ela parece que estah bem involvida com isso e progressando agora que ela tem um objectivo final ao Reino do Ceu! Eh bacana!
Bem, essa semana estamos encontrando com um monte de gente e vai ser ocupado. Encontramos com um cara no sabado soh andando na rua ocupada, que tinha pertido toda a esperanca. Nao tendo trabalho no Japao eh muito mais do que ser desempregado. Isso significa tudo pra eles. Entao ele estah "agarrando os canudos", e ele acabou de nos dar o endereco dele e numero de telefone pra podermos ensinar ele! Foi otimo de poder estar lah como instrumentos nao mao do Pai Celestial, foi muito bacana.
Bem certo eu tenho que ir mas tomem cuidado todo mundo, e vamos continuar a orar por voces. Eu amo todos voces, e tenho saudades -espero que tudo esteja bem. Obrigado pelas cartas e emails, eu realmente aprecio tudo!! Mas sim vamos continuar a ensinar a palavra boa e tentar nao bater a minha cabeca nas jambas das portas (a conta eh ainda no 4, entao acho que estou indo bem... espero!)

Another one- with pictures!
Hello from the City of the 20th day (literally what Hatsukaichi means, hehe)!
Ok so this last week has been crazy, Ill fill you in:
We had a ton of activities and service projects we had to do. We ended up with 17 hours of service on top of our 25 of straight `dendo` (proselyting time). Last monday we had a stake softball tournament (Hatsukaichi trashed all the other wards! yay) It was pretty fun, a good p-day thing. We had FHE with the stake pres. and family and an investigator family, the Mino family. The dad was baptized 30 years ago and is way inactive, and the mom is from the phillipines - speaks english and Japanese really well. We have high hopes for them and the dad has already expressed his desire to quit drinking and smoking, so theyre definitely progressing. Oh and they pray too, its cool.
Then tuesday we spent pretty much all day back at the Honbu (mission home) for Zone Meeting. President Isa interviewed the zone and he does long interviews. But the one with me was awesome, he gave me a lot of insight and counsel, hes amazing (hes the Japanese version of Tio Ju, I swear!!) It was a good interview. Then after that we saw a 8year old from the ward being baptized. It was cool, but the investigator that was said she wanted to come bailed, so we were a little disappointed, but not to fear.
We met again the next day with her (Hota-san) and had a really good lesson. But, shes been investigating the church for years (remember Niels Nielson? Yeah he taught her too, way back when.... btw, para os Mouraos: ve se vcs conseguem entrar em contato com ele pra ele mandar uma carta de `encouragement` pra Hota, mesmo que seja atravez de mim. Isso ajudaria bastante! Obrigado)Shes kind of trying to give up, she has a really passive personality, and we heard the J-dubs (Jehovas Witnesses) are trying to meet with her - we gotta really work!!! hehe After that we taught Eikawa. This is a weekly English conversation class we teach at the Church. Its free and helps us gain more potential investigators (PIs). Its fun, but its tiring... kinda like mission work!
Then thursday we taught English at an elementary school up this massive hill (literally huge!). It was fun, and the kids were awesome.
So friday: we took this group of old ladies from the care center to the Asa Zoo! haha it was a blast, we just pushed wheelchairs for a couple of hours. Then that night we taught the Minos again, and saw a little bit of progress. Were trying to get them to pray as a family though. And the mom gets them to mass (shes catholic) so were trying to get them to church too.
Then saturday we helped a ward primary activity (were way close with the members if you havent noticed yet) then as a zone, helped at a wheelchair soccer game... yeah, it was definitely interesting. They use these huge soccer balls and spin the chairs to kick them. It was fun, but I was pretty much done with service by that time haha.
But at night, it was the highlight of the week. Weve been teaching this really awesome guy named Ito-san. He has a young family but works a ton, thats where we teach him. So we taught him an amazing lesson on the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Chirst - hes getting baptized!!!!!The only problem is that he works so much, sundays are hard and the date we set (november 4th) is a little tough. But I know he can do it, and hes praying really hard to get it too. Were so excited! And more importantly, he is too! He asked us if he could get baptized on wednesday! Haha it was awesome!
Well I gotta go, but I love you a ton!! I know things are tough right now, so Im praying for all of you, and I hope all is well. Thank you for your awesome letters, and your prayers especially. I miss you and I know that Heavenly Father is really blessing all of you!

Oi da cidade do 20o dia (literalmente o que Hatsukaichi significa, hehe)!
Ok, entao essa semana passada tem sido uma loucura, eu te digo:
Tivemos um monte de atividades e projetos de servico que tivemos que ir. Nos terminamos com 17 horas de servico no topo de 25 horas sem parar de 'dendo' (batendo nas portas). Segunda feira passada tivemos o tornamento de softball da estaca (Hatsukaichi matou todas as outras alas! eei) Foi bem divertido, uma boa coisa de dia de folga. Tivemos reuniao familiar com o Presidente de Estaca e a familia e uma familia investigadora, a familia Mino. O pai doi batizado 30 anos atras e eh bem inativo, e a mae eh das Filipinas- fala Ingles e Japones muito bem. Nos temos muita fe neles e o pai jah tem expressado o desejo de parar de beber e fumar, entao eles estao definitivamente progressando. Oh e eles oram tambem, eh legal.
Ai na terca ficamos o dia inteiro no Honbu (casa da missao) pra Reuniao de Zona. O Presidente Isa entrevistou a zona e ele faz entrevistas longas. Mas a entrevista comigo foi otima, ele me deu bastante dicas e conselhos, ele eh maravilhoso (ele eh a versao do tio Ju, eu juro!!) Foi uma entrevista boa. Ai depois daquilo a gente viu uma crianca de 8 anos de idade da ala sendo batizado. Foi legal, mas o investigador que falou que ela queria vir nao veio, entao a gente ficou meio disapontado, mas nao fiquem com medo.
A gente encontrou com ela (Hota-san) no dia seguinte e tivemos uma licao boa. Mas, ela tem investigado a igreja por anos (lembra do Niels Nielson? Eh ele ensinou ela tambem, bem lah pra tras... falando nisso, para os Mouraos: ve se vcs conseguem entrar em contato com ele pra ele mandar uma carta de `encouragement` pra Hota, mesmo que seja atravez de mim. Ela estah meio tentando de parar, mas ela tem uma personalidade muito passiva, e escutamos que os "J-dubs" (Testemunas de Jehova) estao tentando encontrar com ela- precisamos realmente trabalhar!!! hehe
Depois daquilo ensinamos na Eikawa. Isso eh uma classe de conversacao Ingles semanal que ensinamos na Igreja. Eh de graca e ajuda nos a ganhar mais investigadores potenciais (PIs). Eh divertido, mas eh cansativo... que nem trabalho de missao!
Ai na quinta ensinamos Ingles numa escola elementar no topo de um monte enorme (literalmente enorme!). Foi divertido, e as criancas foram maravilhosas.Entao sexta feira: levamos esse grupo de velhinhas do centro de caridade pro Zoo Asa! haha foi muito legal, e soh ficamos puxando cadeiras de rodas por duas horas. Ai naquela noite ensimaos os Minos de volta, e vimos um pouco de progresso. Estamos tentando ver eles orar como familia, entretanto. E a mae leva eles pra massa (ela eh catolica) entao estamos tentando trazer eles pra igreja tambem.
Ai no sabado ajudamos a atividade da Primaria da ala (somos muito juntos com os membros da ala se voces ainda nao repararam) ai como zona, ajudamos num jogo de futebol de cadeiras de roda... eh, foi definitivamente interessante. Eles usaram essas bolas de futebol enormes e giram as cadeiras pra chutar elas. Foi divertido, mas eu estava acabado com servico ateh lah haha
Mas de noite, foi o destaque da semana. Estavamos ensinando esse cara muito maravilhoso chamado Ito-san. Ele tem uma familia nova mas trabalha muito, eh onde ensinamos ele. Entao ensinamos ele essa licao maravilhosa do Plano de Salvacao e do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo- ele estah sendo batizado!!!!!
O unico problema eh que ele trabalha tanto, domingos sao muito dificeis e a data que marcamos (4 de novembro) eh meio dificil. Mas eu sei que ele pode fazer, e ele estah orando muito pra poder fazer tambem. Estamos tao contentes! E mais importantemente, ele tambem estah! Ele perguntou pra gente se ele poderia ser batizado na quarta feira! Haha foi muito legal!
Bom, preciso ir, mas eu amo voces muito!! Eu sei que as coisas estao dificeis agora, mas eu estou orando por todos voces, e espero que tudo esteja bem. Obrigado pelas suas cartas maravilhosas, e as suas oracoes especialmente. Eu tenho saudades e eu sei que o Pai Celestial estah realmente abencoando todos voces!

It's a short email...
Hello everyone,
This is definitely a short e-mail. So last friday was our weekly planning session and we wanted to focus on specific people, not a huge list. So we asked Heavenly Father and he gave us those people. One of them was a very subtle impression: all I got was `it starts with a u`. So I looked at our old potential investigator list and on the back of the last page was Ueda. We followed this prompting (climbing another huge hill, haha) and we were immediately blessed. Turns out he had been waiting for about a year for the missionaries to come by again and meet with him. He had some experiences that had brought a closer knowledge of God, and so he was way excited to listen to us. We ended up teaching him for a little over an hour, and he committed to reading the restoration pamphlet and praying. He even asked about Church, and hes coming net week!! It was amazing to see that kind of guidance and blessing from Heavenly Father: this IS GODs WORK!!!! I love it!
Weve got 4 other investigators, and a bunch of potentials. We prayed and set a baptismal date for at least one of them: it helps to focus our work more into a single work. One of them is also really close, so were working really hard with him. The hardest thing is getting them to come to Church because the japanese work a LOT. So were praying really hard!
Anyways we gotta go, but I love you all and always pray for you. Thank you for all your help and support, it means a lot to me!

Esse eh definitivamente um email curto. Entao sexta passada foi a sessao de planejamento semanal e a gente queria focalizar on pessoas especificas, nao uma lista grande. Entao perguntamos ao Pai Celestial e Ele nos deu aquelas pessoas. Umas delas foi uma impressao delicada: tudo que eu tive foi "Comeca com U". Entao eu olhei no nossa lista de investigadores potenciais, e na pagina de traz tava Ueda. Seguimos essa inspiracao (subimos um outro morro enorme, haha) e fomos imediatamente abencoados. Tornou que ele esteve esperando por mais ou menos um ano pelos missionarios voltar de volta e encontrar com ele. Ele teve algumas experiencias que trouxe a conhecimento de Deus mais perto, e entao ele estaca bem contente de escutar a nos. Ai ensinamos ele por mais um pouco de uma hora, e ele cometeu a ler o pamfleto de Restouracao e orar. Ele ateh perguntou sobre a Igreja, e ele estah vindo semana que vem!! Foi maravilhoso ver aquele tipo de guia e bencao do Pai Celestial: esse EH O TRABALHO DE DEUS!!!! Eu amo isso!

This is definitely a short e-mail. So last friday was our weekly planning session and we wanted to focus on specific people, not a huge list. So we asked Heavenly Father and he gave us those people. One of them was a very subtle impression: all I got was `it starts with a u`. So I looked at our old potential investigator list and on the back of the last page was Ueda. We followed this prompting (climbing another huge hill, haha) and we were immediately blessed. Turns out he had been waiting for about a year for the missionaries to come by again and meet with him. He had some experiences that had brought a closer knowledge of God, and so he was way excited to listen to us. We ended up teaching him for a little over an hour, and he committed to reading the restoration pamphlet and praying. He even asked about Church, and hes coming net week!! It was amazing to see that kind of guidance and blessing from Heavenly Father: this IS GODs WORK!!!! I love it!
Weve got 4 other investigators, and a bunch of potentials. We prayed and set a baptismal date for at least one of them: it helps to focus our work more into a single work. One of them is also really close, so were working really hard with him. The hardest thing is getting them to come to Church because the japanese work a LOT. So were praying really hard!
Anyways we gotta go, but I love you all and always pray for you. Thank you for all your help and support, it means a lot to me!

First letter from Japan!
Minasan Konnichiwa!!
How are you guys?!! Oh my gosh theres so much to tell you, but I dont (sorry for the bad typing these keyboards are way strange) think Ill be able to say everything I want to say - hopefully its not true haha. Anyways so we got to Tokyo via Korean Air. It sounds like the stewardesses had nuts and bolts in their mouths when they talked, it was interesting.... Then we landed in Tokyo and when we checked in at the All Nippon counter they told us that they couldnt take all of the bags because the plane was too small? I didnt really get it but oh well: they had to send my 2 bags by delivery to get there on thursday, so Im glad I was obedient and put extra garments (or g`s as we call them, jk) in my carry on along with an extra shirt and toiletries. So I dont remember the flight from to Tokyo to Hiroshima at all (and apparently its common among the missionaries haha) and we got to Hiroshima in heavy rain. We then met President Isa and the 2 assistants: Oleskey and Campos (hes from Recife, mom!) along with Elder Webb, the financial secretary of the mission. We ate dinner at the mission home (up til then Hiroshima looks just like Curitiba by the way) and Sister Isa made us some authentic Japanese food. It was yummy but I was too tired to enjoy it. After collapsing for the night we did a bunch of orientation on wednesday, and blah, blah, blah, it was thursday morning. On thursday I met my trainer: Elder Hogge. Hes from California, and about the same height as my the rest of the Japanese - which I wasnt surprised to see were at least a foot shorter than me... haha. Hes great, its his first transfer as a trainer so were having fun. We went out proselyting around the mission area while we waited for the bags then headed off to our apartment. This is where it got interesting. So the first thing I noticed was that the door was only about 6 feet high, and considering Im about 6 ft 4 in, that was kind of a problem. the I noticed that we had rice paper doors and windows in some rooms, and tatami mats (straw mats) in two of the rooms. And that the doors followed the same short pattern. After a brief inspection of our apartment I noticed that it wasnt just those things: everything is smaller! The doors, the shower, the washing machine, fridge, windows, mirrors, toilet, sink - everything is built for a person thats only 5ft 6in tall!! Im still getting used to it all, but Im doing ok, considering I only bumped my head once hahahaha. But its really cool, we sleep on futons - thick blanket-looking mattresses that you put away when not using. So far my favorite thing to eat here is called okonomiyaki. Its noodles, eggs, (once I had squid in it) some type of meat, cabbage, and this thin pancake looking thing on top - its soooo good! Oh so we went out looking for bike places but we couldnt find anything. They kept telling us that the one we needed was only going to arrive next year. It was only friday night after praying and searching that we found this bike shop which was closed the day before who are delivering the bike this week!! It was a miracle! I had the cahnce to meet the members too, and this family gave me (the sumikawa`s) a loaner bike and a bag (because we still havent found a bag). This ward is amazing. Everyone is way into missionary work, and were looking forward to have great things happen in Hatsukaichi. So you know youre in Japan when you harvest rice. Yeah, thats right we harvested rice on saturday to help one of the members. It was so fun! It was hard to work, but theyre so nice, its incredible. We went to Church yesterday (we only watch GC next week cuz of the time difference) and it was raining all day! We decided to go out and look for some former investigators about 30 min away. Up a hill. In the evening. In pouring rain. On our bikes. It was the toughest thing yet, but when we made it up the hill we were blessed for our sacrifice. We found this former investigators brother, who lived in Salem, OR and is a protestant. He used to go to Church but after being unwelcomed hes still looking for a place to worship. And thats where we come in haha!! He was so great and it was truly a blessing to find him last night. Remember: sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven! Anyways, i gotta go, I love you tons and theres plenty of pictures about all this. The mission is awesome, its hard, but I love it!! Miss you guys, take care!

Como estao voces?!! Oh meu senhor tem tanta coisa pra te falar, mas eu nao (desculpa pelo datilografo horrivel esses teclados sao muito estranhos) penso que vou poder falar tudo que eu quero falar- espero que nao seja verdade haha. De qualquer jeito entao a gente chegou a Tokyo via Korean Air. Parece que as aeromocas tinham porcas e parafusos nas bocas delas quando elas falavam, era interessante.... Ai a gente aterrisou em Tokyo e quando a gente apresentamos no guiche do All Nippon eles falaram que eles nao podiam tomar todas as nossas bagagens porque o aviao era muito pequeno? Eu nao entendi mas tudo bem: ele tiveram que mandar as minhas 2 bagagens por entrega pra chegar lah na quinta, entao eu estou feliz que fui obediente e botei outros garmentes (ou G's como chamamos eles, brincadeira) na minha mochila de carregar tambem com uma outra camisa e coisas de higiene. Entao eu nao lembro o voo de TOkyo pra Hiroshima nada (e aparentemente eh normal entre os missionarios haha) e chegamos em Hiroshima chovendo bastante. A gente encontrou o Presidente Isa e os 2 assistentes: Oleskey e Campos (ele eh de Recife, mae!) tambem com Elder Webb, o secretario de financas da missao. Tivemos jantar na casa da missao (ateh lah ai Hiroshima parece com Curitiba, a proposito) e Irma Isa cozinhou comida Japonese autentica. Foi muito bom mas eu estava muito cansado pra gostar muito. Depois de colapsar pra noite fizemos um monte de orientacao na quarta feira e blah, blah, blah, era quinta de manha. Na quinta eu conheci o meu treinador: Elder Hogge. Ele eh da California, e ele eh mais ou menos a mesma altura que o resto dos Japoneses- que eu nao estava surpreso de ver que sao mais de um peh menor que eu... haha. Ele eh otimo, eh a primeira tranferencia dele como treinador entao estamos divertindo. Saimos fora fazendo proselitos por volta da area da missao enquanto esperamos pelas minhas bagagens ai fomos pro nosso apartamento. Aqui foi onde ficou interessante. Entao a primeira coisa que eu percebi foi que a porta era soh 6 pes de altura, e considerando que eu sou 6 pes 4 polegadas, isso foi um pouco de problema. Ai eu percevi que temos portas e janelas de papel de arroz em alguns quartos, e as esteiras de tatami (esteiras de palha) em dois dos quartos. E que as portas seguiram o mesmo modelo de altura. Depois de uma inspecao breve do nosso apartamento eu percebi que nao era soh aquelas coisas: tudo eh mais pequeno! As portas, o chuveiro, a maquina de lavar roupa, geladeira, janelas, espelhos, privada, pia - tudo eh construido pra uma pessoa que eh 5 pes e 6 polegadas de altura!! Eu estou acostumando com tudo, mas estou bem, considerand eu bati a cabeca soh uma vez hahahaha. Mas eh muito legal, a gente dorme em futons- uns colchaos que parecem de cobertor grosso que voce guarda quando nao estah usando. A minha coisa predileta de comer aqui eh chamado okonomiyaki. Eh pasta, ovo, (uma vez eu tive lula nisso) algum tipo de carne, repolho, e esse fino bolo em cima - eh taaaaoo bom! O entao a gente foi procurar por lugares que vendem bicicletas mas nao consiguimos achar nennhum. Eles ficaram falando pra gente que a bicicleta que queremos soh iria chegar ano que vem. Soh era sexta feira de noite depois de orar e procurar que achamos essa loja de bicicletas que estava fechado o dia anterior que estah entregando a bicicleta essa semana!! Foi um milagre! Eu tive a chance de escontrar membros tambem, e essa familia me deu (os Sumikawa's) uma bicicleta emprestada e uma sacola (porque ainda nao conseguimos achar uma). Essa ala eh maravilhosa. Todo mundo ama trabalho missionario, e estao esperando por coisas otimas acontecerem in Hatsukaichi. Entao voce sabe que voce estah no Japao quando voce colhe arroz. Sim, eh certo colhemos arroz no sabado pra ajudar um dos membros. Foi tao divertido! Foi trabalho dificil, mas eles sao tao bons, eh incrivel. Fomos pra Igreja ontem (nos soh vamos assistir a Conferencia Geral proxima semana por causa da diferencia de tempo) e estava chovendo o dia inteiro! Decidimos ir pra fora e procurar por uns investigadores antigos mais ou menos 30 minutos daqui. No topo do morro. De tardezinha. Na chuvarada. Nas nossas bicicletas. Foi a coisa mais dificil ainda, mas quando conseguimos chegar no topo do morro fomos abencoados pelo nosso sacrificio. Achamos um irmao de um investigador antigo, que morava em Salem, Oregon e eh um protestante. Ele ia pra igreja mas depois de nao for bem-vindo ele ainda estah procurando por um lugar pra ir pra Igreja. E eh onde nos entramos haha!! Ele foi tao otimo e foi verdadeiramente uma bencao de achar ele ontem a noite. Lembrem: sacrificio traze as bencaos dos ceus! De qualquer jeito, eu tenho que ir, eu amo voces bastante e tem muitas fotos de tudo isso. A missao eh maravilhosa, eh dificil, mas eu amo isso! Tenho saudades de voces, tomem cuidado!

Safe arrival!
Here's an email we got from the Mission Secretary today:
Dear Family,
We are grateful to report that your son (brother!) has arrived to us safely in Hiroshima. Other than being tired from the long flight, he is doing fine. We have had the opportunity to feel of the great spirit he has brought with him from the MTC. We are delighted he is here!
He has been assigned to his new area and will be sending you information about how you can mail him. You are always welcome to address mail to the mission office and we will forward it on to him:

Querida familia,
Estamos gratos de avisar que seu filho (irmao!) chegou pra gente hoje seguro aqui em Hiroshima. Exceto a estar muito cansado da longa viagem, ele estah bem. Tivemos a oportunidade de sentir o Espirito forte que ele trouxe do CTM. Estamos contentes que ele estah aqui!
Ele tem sido assinado a area dele e vamos mandar informacao a como mandar cartas pra ele. Voces sao bem vindos a adressar as cartas pro escritorio da missao, e vamos passar pra ele:
