Hello everyone!
This week has been fantastic - you don't even know!!
So last thursday we taught the first lesson in japanese again - it went really well. I didn't really understand all that the people (all 3 were from Japan, even though one was half-japanese, half-equatorian - go figure, right?) but the amazing thing was that I understand what they were trying to tell me. It was sooooo cool! The Spirit was so strong, and I as I was reciting the First Vision, the whole room was just filled with the Spirit. I was in tears and I could their eyes water as the Spirit testified of the truthfulness of the restoration. It was awesome! Our Japanese is getting better everyday. So far, we've had 3 days where we've only spoken Japanese and it helps a ton. there's a lot to learn and it's amazing how much we learn - but most importantly, retain. I wouldn't be wrting the same things if it weren't for the Spirit helping us. It truly is a great gift from our loving Father in Heaven.
Then last week I went to Babylon as well. Well, the outside world hasn't changed much, except for gas prices dropping a dime. It's still there, and it was really wierd to see people without name tags and church clothes everywhere. It was just strange haha. Oh and last week our new missionaries came. They're great. We got one from Australia, another from the Academy, one is President Eyiring's grandson, and one of my favorites is Elder Heaton: he played soccer for BYU and scored a goal when they played real. He's sooo good! They're really fun and all really want to learn and progress, it's great to see it.
Yesterday we got a new teacher. Porter-sensei started school so he's only a tutor now, but our new teacher's name is Amorim. Yes, he's from Brazil. HAHAHA He's way fun, and has a great Spirit. He's also a great teacher and we learned a lot from the little time we spent with him yesterday. Oh and speaking of yesterday, when did it decide to be winter? It was pretty cold (and I loved it) and the weather was great (it wasn't 100 degrees outside haha). But seasons change at the MTC, it's just weird that I'm here long enough to experience it.
Anyways, so I heard BYU won, but Elijah, you gotta give me the play by play. Hahaha. If you sent mail, yesterday was a holiday so we didn't get anything but this afternoon will hopefully be good.
Before I leave the MTC i'm planning on sending some things home that I don't think I'll need in Japan. I'm sending a couple pairs of extra shoes and some miscellaneous items. Oh and Silvia, I'll be sending my memory card to you, so if you want to upload those pictures and reformat it for me, that'd be great then I don't have to spend money developing every single thing.
Well, like I said this week has been great and I've been seeing a lot of miracles happening. Small ones, but miracles nevertheless. I'm so excited to preach the gospel in Japan, and I'm really happy to have my name right next to my Savior's name. This is the best thing I can be doing, and probably the best thing I'll do for quite some time. Thank you for your love and support, you're awesome.

Essa semana foi fantastica- voces nem sabem!!
Entao quinta-feira passada ensinamos a primeira licao em Japones de volta- foi muito bem. Eu nao entendi exatamente o que todas as pessoas (todos os 3 sao do Japao, mesmo um que eh metade-Japones, metade-Equadoriano, imagine, neh?), mas a coisa mais maravilhosa eh que eu entendi o que eles estavam me dizendo. Foi taaaao legal? O Espririto estava tao forte, e eu estava recitando a Primeira Visao, e a sala inteira esteja cheia com o Espirito. Eu estava lacrimejando, e eu pudi ver os olhos deles tambem lacrimejando enquanto o Espirito testificava na verdade da restoracao. Foi tao maravilhoso!
O nosso Japones estah ficando melhor todo dia. Ate agora, estivemos 3 dias onde soh estivemos falando Japones e ajuda um monte. Tem bastante pra aprender e eh maravilhoso quanto a gente aprende- mas mais importantemente, reter. Eu nao estaria escrevendo as mesmas coisas se nao fosse pelo Espirito ajudando a gente. Eh realmente um presente otimo do nosso amoroso Pai Celestial.
Ai na semana passada eu fui pra Babilonia tambem. Bem, o mundo de fora nao tem mudado muito, exceto pelo preco de gasolina descendo um dez centavos. Ainda estah la, e foi muito esquisito ver pessoas sem crachas e roupas de igreja todo lugar. Foi soh estranho haha. Oh e semana passada os nossos missionarios novos vieram. Eles sao otimos. Temos um da Australia, um outro da Academia, um eh o neto do Presidente Eyring, e um dos meus favoritos eh o Elder Heaton: ele jogou futebol pro BYU e fez um gol quando eles jogaram contra o Real. Ele eh tao bom! Eles sao muito legais e todos realmente querem aprender e progredir, eh otimo ver isso.
Ontem recebemos um professor novo. Porter-sensei comecou a escola e ele eh soh um tutor agora, mas o nome do nosso professor novo eh Amorim. Sim, ele eh do Brazil. HAHAHA Ele eh muito divertido, e tem um Espirito otimo. Ele tambem eh um professor otimo e aprendemos bastante dele no tempinho que ficamos com ele ontem. Oh e falando de ontem, quando que decidiu virar inverno? Tava bem frio (e eu amei) e o tempo estava otimo (nao estava 40C do lado de fora haha). Mas as estacoes mudam no CTM, eh soh meio estranho que eu estou aqui por um tempo longo pra experenciar.
De qualquer jeito, entao eu escutei que o BYU ganhou, mas Elijah, voce tem que me escrever tudo. Hahaha. Se voce mandou carta, ontem foi um feriado entao nao conseguimos nada mas hoje de tarde espero que vai ser bom.
Antes de eu sair do CTM eu estou planejando a mandar algumas coisas pra casa que eu nao penso que vou precisar no Japao. Eu estou mandando dois pares de sapatos pra casa e umas coisas diferentes. Oh e Silvia, eu estou mandando a minha carta de memoria pra voce, entao se voce quiser abaixar aquelas fotos e reformatar elas pra mim, seria otimo ai eu nao preciso gastar dinheiro revelando cada um.
Bem, como eu falei essa semana foi otima e eu estive vendo muitos milagres acontecendo. Pequenas, mas milagres todavia. Eu estou tao contente de ensinar o envangelho no Japao, e eu estou muito feliz de ter o meu nome do lado do nome do meu Salvador. Isso eh a melhor coisa que eu posso estar fazendo, e provavelmente a melhor coisa que eu vou fazer por um tempao. Obrigado pelo amor e apoio, voces sao maravilhosos!

Dramatic Growth
"Under the inspiration of the Lord and the courageous action of Joseph Smith, the first Latter-day Saint missionaries ever to serve beyond North America brought the restored gospel to the British Isles in 1837. Heading that first group of elders was Heber C. Kimball, who set a great example for all newly called missionaries. Humbled by the responsibility and fully aware of his limitations, he poured out his heart in prayer."
